Ragi Adai Recipe | Kelvaragu Adai Recipe



Ragi Ada

 Ingredients :


  • ragi - 1 cup
  • grated coconut - 1+1/2 cup
  • grated jaggery - 1/2 cup
  • chana dal - 1 tbs
  • raisins - 1 tsp
  • cashew - 1 tbs
  • cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • ghee - 1/2 tsp

 Method :

  step 1 : extracting ragi milk


  • soak ragi for at least 6 hours
  • wash very well
  • grind into a fine pate along with 1/2 cup of grated coconut and 1/2 cup of water
  • sieve it by adding 1 cup of extra water and collect the milk
  • keep it aside

  step 2 : preparing ada


  • pour the melted and sieved jaggery into a pan
  • boil it 
  • add chana dal,raisins, cashews and cardamom powder
  • boil it for 1 minute
  • add the ragi extract
  • cook on low flame with continuous stir until thickened
  • add 1 cup of grated coconut and combine well
  • now increase the flame and cook until it separate from the sides of the pan
  • when it is ready, place small portions on banana leaf and press gently
  • healthy ragi ada is ready to serve
  • it become firmer as it sits
