Omana Appam
Ingredients :
- raw rice - 1+1/2 cup ( soak 4 hours )
- white poha - 1 cup ( soak 10 minutes )
- urad dal - 1 tbs ( soak 2 hours )
- grated coconut - 1 cup
- sugar - 2 tbs
- yeast - 1/4 tsp
- salt and water as needed
Method
- grind together poha and coconut into a fine paste by adding 1 cup of water
- next grind together rice, urad dal, sugar and yeast with enough water
- mix it with the coconut - poha paste
- grind the batter one more time
- the batter is to be of idli batter consistency
- cover it and set aside for fermentation ( 5-6 hours )
- then add in the salt and mix gently
- pour a ladleful of batter into hot tawa
- no need to spread it
- cook it covered on low medium flame for about 3 minutes
- repeat the process till the batter finished
- soft and yummy omana appam can be served with spicy curry of your choice.
