Milk Bread
Ingredients :
- maida - 2 + 1/2 cup (250 ml cup)
- milk powder - 4 tbs
- sugar - 2tbs
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 4 tbs
- active dried yeast - 1tsp
- luke warm water - 200ml
Method :
step1 : proofing of yeast
- take 200 ml luke warm water in a bowl
- add in yeast and 1 tsp sugar and mix well
- keep aside until frothy
- it may take around 10 - 12 minutes
- do not use it, if it is not frothy
step 2 : preparation of dough
- take maida in a bowl
- add in all the ingredients and mix well
- knead it for 15 - 20 minutes until smooth and elastic
- in the beginning it will be a sticky dough, after kneading it will no longer be sticky
step 3 : proofing of dough
- grease a bowl
- place the dough in it and turn
- cover with a plastic wrap or kitchen towel and place in a warm place until double in size
- do not over proof the dough
- it may take around 2 hours
- when it is double in size, punch the air out
- shape into a loaf and place it in a greased bread tin
- cover it and allow it to rise ,around 45 minutes to 1 hour
step 4 : baking
- bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree C for 35 - 40 minutes
- place at the lower rack of oven
- if it turns brown before time, cover with an aluminium foil and continue baking
- turn the loaf tin in between to ensure even baking
- when it is done, brush butter to soften the crust
- remove from pan and allow it to cool completely
- when it is completely cool, cut into slices and serve
Notes:
- try to use organic maida if possible
- rising time of dough may vary depending on weather condition
