Instant Rava Idli Recipe | Sooji Idli Recipe | How To Make Rava Idli Batter At Home |



Instant Rava Idli

 Ingredients :


  • rava / sooji - 1 cup
  • mustard seeds - 1tsp
  • urad dal - 1 tsp
  • green chilly chopped - 1 tsp
  • curry leaves
  • ginger - 1 small piece chopped
  • carrot chopped - 1/4 cup
  • curd - 1/2 cup
  • coriander leaves
  • salt
  • baking soda - a generous pinch
  • oil 

 Method :


  step 1 : preparation of batter


  • heat up 2 tbs oil and crack some mustard seeds
  • add in urad dal and saute until colour changed slightly
  • add in chopped green chilly, curry leaves and ginger
  • saute them for a while
  • add in onion and carrot and saute for 3 - 4 minutes
  • add in rava and roast on medium heat until nice aroma comes ( 3 4 minutes)
  • now turn off the flame and let the mixture cool down
  • when it is cool add in coriander leaves, curd and 3/4 - 1 cup of water
  • let the mixture to stand for 15 minutes
  • add in salt and baking soda
  • consistency of batter should not be too thick or thin

  step 2 : steaming



  • boil water in a steamer
  • grease the idly mould with oil
  • pour in the batter into the pits
  • steam for 8 - 10 minutes or a tooth pick inserted came out clean
  • remove from steamer and allow them to cool for a few minutes
  • then remove from idli tray and serve with coconut chutney
