Instant Rava Idli
Ingredients :
- rava / sooji - 1 cup
- mustard seeds - 1tsp
- urad dal - 1 tsp
- green chilly chopped - 1 tsp
- curry leaves
- ginger - 1 small piece chopped
- carrot chopped - 1/4 cup
- curd - 1/2 cup
- coriander leaves
- salt
- baking soda - a generous pinch
- oil
Method :
step 1 : preparation of batter
- heat up 2 tbs oil and crack some mustard seeds
- add in urad dal and saute until colour changed slightly
- add in chopped green chilly, curry leaves and ginger
- saute them for a while
- add in onion and carrot and saute for 3 - 4 minutes
- add in rava and roast on medium heat until nice aroma comes ( 3 4 minutes)
- now turn off the flame and let the mixture cool down
- when it is cool add in coriander leaves, curd and 3/4 - 1 cup of water
- let the mixture to stand for 15 minutes
- add in salt and baking soda
- consistency of batter should not be too thick or thin
step 2 : steaming
- boil water in a steamer
- grease the idly mould with oil
- pour in the batter into the pits
- steam for 8 - 10 minutes or a tooth pick inserted came out clean
- remove from steamer and allow them to cool for a few minutes
- then remove from idli tray and serve with coconut chutney
