Easy Lemon Cake Recipe | Whole Wheat Lemon Cake



Whole Wheat Lemon Cake

 Ingredients :


  • wheat flour - 1 cup
  • baking powder - 1tsp
  • salt - a pinch
  • butter at room temperature - 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 3/4 cup
  • eggs - 2
  • lemon zest - of 2 large lemons
  • curd/yogurt - 2 tbs

 Method :



  • Mix together wheat flour, baking powder and salt. Keep this aside.
  • cream together butter and sugar until pale yellow
  • add in the eggs one at a time and beat until well combined
  • add in lemon zest and combine well
  • sift in the flour mix
  • fold in gently;avoid over mixing
  • add in curd and mix gently
  • transfer this cake batter into a cake tin which is lined with parchment paper
  • bake this in a preheated oven at 180 degree Celsius for 45 - 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted at the centre came out clean 
  • brush the top with lemon syrup
  • cut the cake when it is completely cool

to make lemon syrup :



  • mix 3 tbs sugar, 1 tbs lemon juice and 1/4 cup of water;boil this until get a syrup consistency.

 to zest the lemon :



  • grate the yellow part of lemon skin

  1. Thank you for this wonderfully easy recipe. I was worried because the mixture was rather thick but it turned out light and very airy. I did cut the sugar and no one complained. Matter of fact, it was such a hit that I'm going to make it again...today!
