Ingredients:
- Puttu podi 1 cup (220g) (I used Ponkathir puttu podi which needs 1 cup water for 1 cup flour)
- Carrot 1 (100g)
- Ghee 1.5 tbs
- Salt 1/2 tsp
- Grated coconut as needed
- Coconut milk 1 cup (medium thickness)
- Take puttu podi in a bowl
- Add salt and mix well
- Add coconut milk and keep aside for 20 miutes
- Meanwhile add ghee in a pan and sauté the grated carrot for 2 minutes; keep this aside
- After 20 minutes break the lumps in puttu podi using a fork
- Add the sauteed carrot and mix well
- Now boil water in puttu kudam
- Place the perforated disc in puttu kutti
- Add 2 tbs fresh coconut
- Now gently fill the puttu podi until half portion is full
- Add 2 tbs coconut and again fill the remaining portion with puttu podi
- Cover it and place over the puttukudam
- Steam for 5 minutes
- Delicious super soft paal puttu is ready to serve
