Parippu Vada Recipe Kerala Style



Parippu Vada

 Ingrdients:


  • peas dal/muttar dal/vada parippu - 1.5 cups[300g]
  • onion - 1
  • shallots - 5
  • ginger - 1 big piece
  • green chillies - 4 - 5
  • curry leaves
  • dried red chillies - 3
  • salt as needed
  • hinge - 1/2 tsp
  • fennel seeds - 1tsp
  • chilly powder - 1 tsp

 Method



  • wash and soak the dal in water for minimum four hours
  • drain well 
  • keep aside two table spoons of soaked dal
  • crush the remaining dal into a coarse paste, without adding water
  • add the dal which had been kept aside into the ground dal
  • chop onion, chillies,ginger,shallots and curry leaves
  • add these into the crushed dal
  • add salt,hinge,fennel seeds and chilly powder
  • mix everything very well
  • make lemon sized balls from this mix
  • flatten them with your palms
  • deep fry in hot oil until brown
  • serve them hot with tea or coffee

 Note



  • you can use kadala parippu/chana dal instead of peas dal
