Bonda
Ingredients:
- wheat flour - 2 cups
- jaggery syrup - 1 +1/2 cup
- cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- small banana - 1
- baking soda - 2 pinch
- oil for deep frying
Method:
- In a large bowl, mix wheat flour,salt,cardamom powder and ground banana
- add in the jaggery syrup to make a sticky batter
- cover it and let it rest for minimum 2 hours
- then add in baking soda and mix well
- meanwhile heat up oil in a deep vessel
- when it is hot enough reduce flame to low
- dip your palm in a bowl of water to prevent sticking of batter on your hands
- then place small portions of the batter into the oil and fry them until golden brown
- fry on low medium flame to ensure proper cooking
- then drain and finish the entire batter in the same manner
Note
- using banana is optional
- you can add cumin instead of cardamom
