Omana Appam Recipe



Omana Appam

 Ingredients :


  • raw rice - 1+1/2 cup ( soak 4 hours )
  • white poha - 1 cup ( soak 10 minutes )
  • urad dal - 1 tbs ( soak 2 hours )
  • grated coconut - 1 cup
  • sugar - 2 tbs
  • yeast - 1/4 tsp
  • salt and water as needed

 Method



  •  grind together poha and coconut into a fine paste by adding 1 cup of water
  • next grind together rice, urad dal, sugar and yeast with enough water
  • mix it with the coconut - poha paste
  • grind the batter one more time
  • the batter is to be of idli batter consistency
  • cover it and set aside for fermentation ( 5-6 hours )
  • then add in the salt and mix gently
  • pour a ladleful of batter into hot tawa 
  • no need to spread it
  • cook it covered on low medium flame for about 3 minutes
  • repeat the process till the batter finished
  • soft and yummy omana appam can be served with spicy curry of your choice.
